Vinrella: Umbrella in a Bottle

Vinrella is a family-run business that makes the unique novelty product, the Umbrella in a Bottle. The umbrellas come in bottle-shaped containers that can be printed with patterns or a wine label, playing on the idea of a wine bottle. Importantly, these umbrellas are functional too! Their hard outer case keeps all of the raindrops sealed up, making them super useful.

I have been the creative director of Vinrella since it’s start in 2012, and had a key role in developing the brand, including the logo and many of the best-selling pattern designs.

Surface Pattern Design

Designing a Vinrella pattern involves staying on top of recent fashion trends such as seasonal colors and popular patterns. In addition, we talk to customers about what they want to see in the coming season. Once we have our ideas, we sketch our patterns, digitize them, and then work closely with our printers to make sure the colors are perfect.

Catalog Design

Every year, I design the Vinrella wholesale catalog to feature the latest products, and lifestyle imagery. The catalog is given to new and returning customers at gift and travel trade shows as well as emailed to brands that want to sell the Vinrella product line.

Website design

I built the Vinrella website using Shopify, custom fitting the template to fit Vinrella’s brand. Since its launch, the website has sold thousands of products. It has also grabbed the attention of many famous companies including QVC and Good Morning America.
